E-ViEWS

Control Specialists Company of Winter Park, FL and E-ViEWS Safety Systems of Agoura Hills, CA announce they have entered into an agreement for the distribution of the E-ViEWS system.

Control Specialists Co. is the sole distributor in the states of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. Jim Davidson, President of E-ViEWS Safety System says, “ Control Specialists Company provides the unique capabilities of a traffic sales and a service company. Control Specialists provide all the capabilities needed to build, install and service intersection control. They are a one stop shop.”

The E-ViEWS System has been a joint development with Nasa’s JPL. The system has pioneered techniques to visually warn drivers of situations where emergency vehicles are present. Today, the management of the traffic control system is only part of the answer to safe emergency handling. In 1997 alone there were over 15,000 accidents involving emergency vehicles. These incidents resulted in over 8,000 injuries and 500 fatalities. These statistics are documented by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

E-ViEWS is a wireless system capable of managing intersection control on a priority and preemption basis. In addition it provides visual warning via Dynamic Message Signs. First responders can initiate the system form 3,500 feet away, providing other drivers the time to clear the intersection. The Intellicorp intersection control communicates with the Intellisigns to provide driver instructions and warning regarding approaching emergency or ransit vehicles. The DMS may also be used by the central traffic management center for driver information such as special routing, amber alerts or emergency information.

The system goes beyond emergency reponse and has applications in the areas of Homeland Security, Transit, signalized railroad crossings and Intelligent Transportation Systems. E-ViEWS uses wireless networks which are secure and can be used to extend the agency’s network beyond existing fiber.
